Fish Molly / Molee
Ingredients
- Fish - ½ kg
- Onion – 2 thinly sliced
- Ginger –1 inch
- Garlic –5 - 6 cloves
- Green chilli – 3 – 4
- Cloves – 6
- Cinnamon – 2 stick
- Cardamom – 5
- Bay leaves - 2
- Tomato – 2-3
- Coconut milk – 2 cups
- Oil – enough to shallow fry fish
- Mustard Seeds –1 tsp
- Curry leaves – a hand full
- Salt – to taste
For Marination
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Pepper powder – 1 tsp
- Lemon juice – ½ lemon (optional)
- Salt - to taste
Method
- Marinate the fish pieces with turmeric powder, pepper powder, salt & lemon juice and keep aside for 1 hour.
- Meanwhile prepare all the other ingredients.
- Shallow fry the marinated fish till they are half done.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds.
- Make sure that the heat is on medium and add the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and bay-leaves and fry for few seconds.
- Add ginger and garlic and fry for a min.
- Now add onions and green chillies.
- After few minutes add the tomatoes and saute for few more minutes.
- Once the tomatoes becomes soft add coconut milk and salt. Let it boil.
- Add the fried fish pieces and cook till they are done.
- Serve hot with Palappam or bread.
